Hi, I'm Rose. That's me in the middle, flanked by a couple of characters who take their kettle korn and beer very seriously.
Although cruetly-free living involves much more than just diet, this blog is mostly about food because I love to cook. I learned to cook and bake at home from my mom, who is a wonderful from-scratch cook and baker. She showed me the ropes in the kitchen from an early age. I also spent many years working in restaurants and bakeries during my college and post-college days. Cooking is one of my life-long passions.
I'm vegan because I believe that all living beings--both human and non-human--deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. No living being should be treated as an object or as property; non-violence and living in harmony with the earth and all its creatures is one of the highest human pursuits.
I live with my vegan husband and many other non-human family members (just to clarify, my husband is human). We have been vegetarian for over 30 years, and have been vegan for the past 15 years.
I've lived and worked in Spain, Ireland, and the UK, but returned to my hometown in the Pacific Northwest ten years ago.
My favorite ways to spend time are veganic gardening, walking/hiking, running, swimming, spending time with my friends, daydreaming, dancing, bicycle commuting, and cooking...not in that order, just in general as they happen.
Animals have been some of my greatest teachers and noblest friends; I feel a deep love and respect for all living beings, and...
I love delicious food!!
